IMAP – Mozilla Thunderbird 2

1)   When you start Thunderbird for the first time the Account Wizard will start. Select Email Account then click Next.

2)   Enter your name and e-mail address (myid@uga.edu), then click Next.

3)   Select IMAP as the type of incoming server and enter email.uga.edu for the incoming and outgoing servers.

4)   Check that your user name (MyID) is correct then click Next.

5)   Enter a name, like UGAMail, for the account, click Next, then click Finish to create the account.

6)   Go to the Tools menu and select Account Settings. Click Server Settings under the account you just created in the list.

Select SSL
under Security Settings and for When I delete a message select Mark it as deleted.

7)   Click AdvancedÉ Uncheck Show only subscribed folders then click OK.

8)   Click Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the list then click Edit... Select TLS under Use secure connection, then click OK.

9)   Click OK to close the Account Settings dialog, then exit and restart Thunderbird to begin reading your e-mail.
