- Outlook 2000(Windows)

If you would like to read your mail with Outlook on a Windows system, you will need to follow these instructions to configure it properly. The screen shots are applicable for Outlook version 2000. Step OneLaunch Outlook and pull down the Tools menu, then select Accounts. You should now see the Internet Accounts screen. Step TwoClick on Add and then
Mail. You should now see the Internet Connection Wizard for
Your Name screen. Type in your name as you would like for it to
appear on your e-mail.
Step ThreeClick on Next at the bottom
of the panel. It will take you to the Internet Connection Wizard for
Internet E-mail Address screen. Type in your e-mail address. This
should be your myid@uga.edu
Step FourClick on Next at the bottom of the panel. It will take you to the Internet Connection Wizard for E-mail Server Names screen. This is an important panel to fill out correctly. On the line that asks "My incoming mail server is a" select IMAP. In the text field that reads "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server." type email.uga.edu as shown. In the final text field that
reads "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server." type email.uga.edu
as shown.
Step Five Click on Next at the
bottom of the panel. It will take you to the Internet Connection Wizard
for Internet Mail Login screen. Type in the user name part
of your e-mail address. For security, we recommend un-checking the option
to Remember password.
Step SixClick on Next at the bottom of the panel. It will take you to a screen where you can select your internet connection method. You should select the connection method appropriate for your particular situation.
Step SevenClick on Next at the
bottom of the panel. It will take you to the Internet Connections Wizard
for Congratulations screen. Click on Finish.
Step SevenClick on the Properties
button of the Internet Accounts dialog box to get to the Properties
dialog box for the newly created account.
Step EightOn the General tab,
you can type in a friendly name for your account, such as Work Email.
Otherwise, the account will be listed as email.uga.edu. Step NineOn the Advanced tab, check the boxes for Outgoing mail and Incoming Mail "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box.
Personal Configuration OptionsFrom your menu select Tools and then Options. We recommend that (unless everyone you correspond with has an HTML equipped mail reader) you click on the Mail Format tab. Under Message Format select Plain Text. Then click OK.
Where's my mail?After Outlook is configured, your e-mail will be displayed in the Outlook Shortcuts icons on the Outlook Bar as shown below.
